After New Year’s Eve

After New Year’s Eve

After New Year’s Eve is over, what do you remember the most? The Heartbeats who were a 1950s American doo-wop group from Jamaica, Queens sing about the memories of a guy being out with his baby (girl). Jamaica in southeastern Queens is both a neighborhood and the shorthand name given to many neighborhoods in southeast Queens.

I liked the smooth sound of the Heartbeats doing some serious singing about a guy remembering his girl he was with on New Year’s Eve. I also like the neat, well dressed, and well groomed appearance of the group. It is so good to remember when guys used to keep their pants pulled up in the back and didn’t dress so slouchy. They make a good role model for our teens today.

Here are the words to “After New Year’s Eve”:

New Year’s Eve is over, I had a nice time
I’m with my baby now, and every things fine
did you, did you, have a ball on New Year’s Eve

Did you make a resolution to the one you love
Did you tell her that you’ll always be the one your thinking of
Did you, did you, have a ball one New Year’s Eve

It will come again, but baby not to soon
365 days and maybe a honeymoon
New Years Eve is over, I had a nice time
I’m with my baby now, and every things fine
Did you, Did you, have a ball on New Year’s Eve
