Five Ways to Have Church At Home
5 Ways to Have Church At Home
For many people, going to church every Sunday is an important part of their week. They get to partake in sacred faith rituals like communion or group worship, they get to hear religious teaching, they get to spend some time with an important part of their community. Sometimes, though, you may not be able to make it to church due to weather or illness, but you still want to spend the morning celebrating your faith. Here are five things you can do to have a sort of impromptu church service at home.
1. Read Your Bible
If you’re a regular churchgoer, you may read the Bible on a regular basis anyway. If you haven’t in awhile, now could be a good time to dust off an old copy or hunt one up online. Find a favorite chapter, choose something at random, or look to see what other churches are reading today and follow along.
2. Watch a Church Service Online
Many churches livestream their services, so you may even be able to see your own pastor preach right from your home. Otherwise, there are plenty of church service streaming options online. From praise and worship time to prayers to preaching, you can easily find services from all different denominations online. Click here to find out more about church streaming options.
3. Go For a Walk
The psalms are full of language about seeing the beauty in the world around us and using that to praise God. If it’s nice out, go for a walk. Load up an audio version of the Bible onto your iPod, or just walk and pray and thank God as you wish.
Speaking of praying, this is a great way to spend your Sunday morning if you’re stuck at home. Think of people you know who maybe need some encouragement or some divine intervention, and pray for them. Spend time thanking God for things that are going well in your life, as well as asking him for things you need or want. Sometimes once you get going, you can spend a whole morning praying!
5. Listen to Religious Music
Whether you prefer classic hymns or modern worship choruses, you can find a radio station that will fill your home with your favorite sacred music. Many radio stations play nothing but religious music on Sunday morning, but if you’re having trouble finding some, do an online search. You can even look up the lyrics on the Internet and sing along.
