Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert 2008

Random tickets are still available for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert 2008. The concerts will take place from December 11 through December 14 in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. This year’s concert is titled “Ring, Christmas Bells”.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir distributes free tickets for their Christmas concert. The free tickets are distributed through a random selection process by phone and Internet. Eighty thousand are expected to attended the Christmas concerts from the community. Free tickets are required because of the anticipated high demand.

The featured 2008 Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas guest is singer and actor Brian Stokes Mitchell, who performed in the recent Tanner Gift of Music Concert. The Bells on Temple Square will also join in the celebration as well as bell ringers from the community. Actor and narrator Edward Herrmann will also perform.

Brian Stokes Mitchell is a robust baritone as well as an American film, stage and television actor. His career includes Tony Award-winning performances on Broadway, a multitude of television film appearances, and a list of impressive concert performances.

Edward Herrmann has won both Tony and Emmy awards for his stage and TV work. He has appeared in countless movies on the big screen. He is known for his narrative voice in the portrayals of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, narrator for The History Channel, and for roles in various public Broadcast Specials specials.

Last year’s concert featured the “King Singers” from the UK. The 2007 Christmas Concert was broadcast on PBS and is now available on a Christmas DVD. This year’s Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert will also be shown on PBS, for dates that are to be announced.
